Thank you for your interest in working at Sefton Council.
Sefton is a really great place to live, work and visit and now is a fantastic time to be joining the senior leadership team of the Council.
Sefton has 22 miles of wonderful coastline from Bootle in the South to Southport in the north. We have international events like the Open Golf and the Grand National and we have fantastic connections to Liverpool, Manchester and beyond. But more importantly we have everything our residents need across our 5 towns and numerous villages - thriving communities, great schools and beautiful open spaces.
In the Council, we have a strong culture built on our communities, our partnerships and our ambition both within Sefton and across the Liverpool City Region
Over the last couple of years, we have transformed our Inadequate Children’s Services into a Good Children’s Services as evidenced in the Ofsted report published in August 2025. Our Adult Social Care services were also recently rated Good in the report published in June 2025. We are making significant progress on our new Corporate Plan reflecting both our statutory responsibilities and the things that matter most to our residents as evidenced in the recent Corporate Peer Challenge Review.

We face the same financial challenges as all Local Authorities, and we have a Transformation Plan (2024-2027) to ensure we tackle those challenges head on and deliver on our ambition. The plan is built on 4 pillars – Everyday Excellence, Better Outcomes, Sustainable Services and Setting Us Up To Succeed and Growth
Officers and councillors are united in their approach and their values. Our aim as a leadership team is to work hard to enable both our staff and communities to succeed. We are proud of our ability to deliver and passionate about making a difference, and we are looking for a candidate who shares this ambition and passion.
